Commenting on the Quiz Night, All Saints’ Priest-in-Charge Rev Dawn Matthew said: “We look forward to welcoming people, and that includes everyone from our wonderful community, to start their Christmas celebrations by joining our All Saints’ family for a fun General Knowledge Test with prizes!

“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus and remember the joy and hope of that first Christmas Day, we know that Christmas may not be a happy time for everyone. For people who may be experiencing sadness, anxiety, loneliness, or personal loss, we are holding a special ‘Blue’ Christmas Remembrance at our inclusive Anglican All Saints’ Church (on the A714, Girvan Road, Challoch, DG8 6RB, near Newton Stewart) on Saturday, 13 December, starting at 4pm.”

“On Saturday, 20 December, at 4pm we look forward to welcoming folk to hear the Christmas story retold in word and song at our annual All Saints’ Carol Service.

“Four days later, our Christmas Eve Midnight Mass will be held at 11pm. It is a beautiful candlelit service where we celebrate the birth of Christ, followed on Christmas Day by our All Saints’ 10.30am Christmas Eucharist.”

  • All Saints’ Church (DG8 6RB), with its surrounding views over the Galloway Hills, is on the A714 Girvan Road, near Newton Stewart. It is one of Dumfries and Galloway’s finest examples of a small Victorian church. Originally built as a private chapel for Edward James Stopford-Blair of Penninghame House in 1871-72, this now-Grade A listed building was designed by architects W.G. Habershon & Pite of London. Upon his death in 1885, Stopford-Blair bequeathed the church and rectory to the Diocese of Glasgow & Galloway.
