THE FEAST OF ST FRANCIS – OCTOBER 5 2025

Barks and purrs at our annual ‘Pets Blessing’ Service

It was barks and purrs on Sunday 5 October at the annual ‘Pets Blessing’ Service. Retired Archdeacon of Sunderland (2002-2018) and member of the church, the Rev Canon Stuart Bain, is pictured with five All Saints’ congregation pet owners who collectively had their four dogs and a cat blessed by him.

All Saints’ Priest-in-Charge, the Rev Dawn Matthew, said: “Animals and their relationship with people are a vitally important part of God’s creation. From teaching children and young people how to love and take care of them, to providing invaluable companionship and healing for adults, pets are some of God’s greatest gifts. They, like animals generally, are crucial to the ecology of our beautiful planet, and should never be taken for granted. As such, it is fitting that the nearest Sunday to the Feast of the patron saint of animals, St Francis of Assisi (4 October), should be dedicated annually to giving thanks for animals, and asking the Good Lord to bless them as part of his creation.”

MIDSUMMER MUSICALE.

Midsummer Musicale strikes all the right notes! By Julian Demetriadi

Our  Midsummer Musicale on 19 July was declared a big hit by the congregation and visitors attending this annual festival of musical fun. A concert by our in-house musicians was followed by strawberries and cream – a perfect ending to a sunny summer’s afternoon of beautiful music.

The church looked beautiful for our FlowerFest on the weekend of 28 September. Not only were we privileged to enjoy our congregations’ artists in floral design but we were delighted to welcome contributions from local organisations. Thank you, everyone who helped to make our church so lovely:

We were delighted to welcome Bishop Kevin on Sunday 23 June when he came to Challoch to confirm six congregation members from All Saints’ and St Margaret’s, New Galloway:
