TOWARDS NET ZERO – UPDATE APRIL 2024

Glance at the sun. See the moon and the stars. Gaze at the beauty of earth’s greenings. Now, think. What delight God gives to humankind with all these things. All nature is at the disposal of humankind. We are to work with it. For without we cannot survive. ~ Hildegard of Bingen

We’re delighted to report that we’ve been accepted as a Proud Supporter of the Galloway and South Ayrshire Biosphere scheme – and we’re the very first church in Dumfries and Galloway to be awarded this badge! In order to qualify for this we had to satisfy that we are committed to the following criteria:

  • Help to conserve the natural resources of the Biosphere.
  • Support the economy to benefit local people and nature.
  • Promote cultural heritage and local products.
  • Contribute to the health & well-being of the community.
  • Develop knowledge, understanding and promote research.
  • Raise awareness of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere.

Our Net Zero Action Plan

We are keen to to progress All Saints’ response to the Province’s Net Zero policy to make the Church’s approach as sustainable as possible – from heating to how we use the building, and the church grounds.  We have set up a team – Stuart Bain, Dawn Matthew, Phillip Colville, Jayne Powell and Keith Best to progress this project. Got any thoughts/ideas? Then please contact one of the team members.

This is the work of the Provincial Environment Group so far
